Modbury Health Centre has a virtual Patient Participation Group(PPG).
We currently have 45 members
This Group plays a valuable part in the future development of the practice and is used as a resource to provide feedback on the range and quality of the services and also to generate ideas for areas to improve.
We are actively recruiting patients for the group.
Our aim is to work with as many different patients as possible and to make sure that the group is as fair a representation of our entire patient population as we can achieve. That is why we decided to establish a virtual Group rather than a physical one as we understand that many patients are unable to attend the meetings due to other commitments but may want to have a say in what we do. This means that contact will be by post or email. We do plan a patient education event to be held at the practice during Autumn 2017.
What will be involved? -The main role of the Group is to give us feedback on how well the practice is doing. We also gain feedback from the GP Patient Survey run by the Department of Health. We also run a Friends and Family Questionnaire that can be completed either in the surgery of via our website. These results are also available on this website on the menu on the right under Have your Say-Survey Results.
Patients will be asked a series of simple questions about how we are doing. We want to ensure the right areas are covered in the General Practice Annual Survey, so the group will be asked to tell us what areas we should be looking at. This survey is carried out in September each year.
The survey results will be published on the website along with our proposal to improve the areas it highlights as in need of change. You will have the chance to let us know if you agree with our plans. At the end of the year we will publish the results of our achievements in the areas that needed change.

The GP Patient Survey has been designed to give patients the opportunity to feed back about their experiences of their GP surgery. The survey asks about your experiences of your local GP surgery and other local NHS services, and includes questions about your general health. The survey includes questions about a range of issues, such as how easy or difficult it is to make an appointment at your surgery, satisfaction with opening hours, the quality of care received from your GP and practice nurses, amongst other things.
Replies to the survey will help GP surgeries understand where they can improve. This survey is an opportunity for patients to have their say about how well their surgery is doing at providing these services to patients.
Ipsos MORI, an independent research agency, administers the survey on behalf of NHS England.
NHS England leads the National Health Service (NHS) in England. It is an arm's length body of the Department of Health with the aim of improving health outcomes for people in England. It is responsible for the commissioning of health care services in England, including the contracts for GPs, pharmacists, and dentists. The NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT) was created to help service providers and commissioners understand whether their patients are happy with the service provided, or where improvements are needed. It is a quick and anonymous way to give your views after receiving care or treatment across the NHS.
Since its launch in 2013, more than 25 million pieces of patient feedback have been submitted. The FFT has been rolled out across most NHS services, including community care, hospitals, mental health services, maternity services, GP and dental practices, emergency care, patient transport and more
